How it Started It was during March 2010 while training a few of my sport karate students in preparation for karate tournament .I had them bouncing around to a upbeat latin american and techno CD so that they could get a better sense of rhythm and thus be able to move more fluidly across a tournament ring. One of the parents - Dalene Swart , liked the idea and suggested that I try a class and invite a few ladies. Not knowing to much about the aerobic and dancing side , I decided to look at both the Taebo Tapes of Billy Blanks the founder and the ZUMBA fitness tapes of Beto Perez the founder. I looked at the physique of the ladies and the different weights and sizes. I also took in consideration members that have physical ailments , and decided to convert a few movements from both Zumba and Taebo program to suit everyone , both young and old in my studio,s. The program is a one hour combination of both latin dance step that are more exercise and basic karate combinations that is easy to do. The moves will get you hooked. Everyone wants to lose weight and feel good , and what better way then to do it having FUN. 6 ladies joined in the 1st class. Soon it was 50 and now there are over 100 ladies doing the routine. All through Word of Mouth in over 8 months . _______________________________________________________________ The Zumba Taibo workout provides fitness benefits because its routines feature interval training sessions with fast and slow rhythms and resistance training, which are intended to tone and sculpt the body while burning fat.
Music is the key ingredient to the classes. The score, created with specific beats and tempo changes, transitions the workout from one toning, strengthening or cardio move to another, thus targeting every major muscle group in the body. The Zumba section borrows Latin flavor from the following dance styles: Cumbia, Salsa, Merengue, Mambo, Reggaeton, Samba, Belly dancing, Hip hop music .
